    Seal Interpretive Centre

The Seal Interpretive Centre (S.I.C.) came into being in 1994 due to the efforts of Willie Deraspe, a well-known local captain. Interactive displays introduce visitors to the world of seals, taking the curious from the ocean floor to the ice floes of northern Canada. Four different species of seals live in the waters around the islands, and islanders have a close, personal relationship with their friends of the sea.

Le Fumoir D'Antan - Historic Herring Smokehouse

At the beginning of the 20th century the islands were renowned for their smoked herring industry, which continued to the 1970s, when fish stocks began to decline. Le Fumoir D'Antan celebrates this history by maintaining a still-operational smokehouse that uses traditional methods to preserve the tasty fish, a process that takes several months. A small museum displays antique tools and industry objects.
